The Complete Guide to Tarot Spreads: The Venus Divination Method

13.5K views

The Venus Divination Method is a tarot spread designed specifically for questions about love and relationships. It offers a clear picture of both partners’ current dynamics and points to likely developments ahead. Compared with other love-related spreads, the Venus Divination Method is more complex and provides a more detailed, nuanced view of the situation. It is suitable for new relationships and ambiguous romantic situations, but not for unrequited love.

I. Layout

Venus is the goddess of love in Western mythology and is associated with Venus. In the West, her symbol is ♀, so the layout of this spread follows that shape. The Venus spread does not use a cut card or a significator card, and it omits the Major Arcana; it uses only the 56 Minor Arcana for the reading. After shuffling and cutting the deck, draw eight cards at random and place them in positions 1–8 as shown in the image above.

II. Meaning of Card Positions

  • Represents the querent’s perspective on the issue
  • Represents the other person’s attitude toward the querent
  • Represents the querent’s influence on the other person
  • Represents the other person’s influence on the querent
  • Represents the obstacles between the two parties
  • Represents the outcome between the two parties
  • Represents the querent’s future situation
  • Represents the other person’s future situation

III. Order of Interpretation

The reading order does not strictly follow the draw order. Read the first four cards in the order they were drawn, then the seventh and eighth, and finally the fifth and sixth. After all eight cards have been interpreted, synthesize the information to offer guidance to the querent.

Note: In the Venus spread, the first four cards influence the fifth card, which in turn influences the sixth card.
