The Complete Guide to Tarot Spreads: The Mirror Expansion Method
7.3K views

The Mirror Expansion Method is a spread used to predict outcomes for a specific question. It is especially helpful when you’ve decided on a course of action and want to understand its consequences.
1. Scope of Application
Suitable for questions about love, friendship, academics, and career
2. Applicable Card Types
22 Major Arcana cards, 56 Minor Arcana cards, or the full 78 Tarot cards. (If you’re a beginner, it’s recommended to start with only the Major Arcana for divination, as using fewer cards makes it easier to learn their meanings. Once you’re comfortable, you can add the Minor Arcana.)

3. Card Layout
- After shuffling the cards, fan the deck face down and hold it in your left hand. Note: The end you’re holding should be the end that was just cut, facing down!
- Ask the querent to draw one card at random and hand it to you. Place this card in the center of the table and turn it over from left to right, placing it in the “0” position.
- Next, ask the querent to draw nine more cards. Arrange these cards, face down, in order from “1” to “9” according to the illustrated positions. Do not flip these nine cards yet. The card in the “1” position should cover the first card that was turned over in the “0” position.
- Now reveal all nine cards and begin your interpretation.
4. Card Position Meanings
- “0” is the key to resolving the issue.
- “1” represents the querent’s current situation.
- “2” indicates the querent’s mindset or thought patterns.
- “3” reflects the querent’s emotions and feelings.
- “4” signifies potential surprises or unforeseen events.
- “5” represents the querent’s situation over the next two to three months.
- “6” indicates the thoughts and actions of others.
- “7” highlights factors that have not yet been considered.
- “8” shows the results of taking action.
- “9” indicates the ultimate outcome.
