In our interactions with others, there are three types of beneficial friends: the straightforward friend, the understanding friend, and the knowledgeable friend. Conversely, there are three types of harmful friends: the deceitful friend, the overly agreeable friend, and the flattering friend. The highest virtue for a gentleman is kindness towards others, but being blindly kind is foolish; we must exercise wise kindness. As the saying goes, "To painstakingly consider every error and reflect on every situation is challenging," signifying that human intentions can be deceitful and require caution. Teacher Liu Heng advises that when dealing with petty individuals, we should adhere to our principles or maintain a certain distance, which aligns with Confucius's teaching: "return virtue with virtue, and respond to resentment with integrity." We should strive to be loyal, forgiving, upright, just, and respectful.

Note by Liu Heng: The liver houses the soul, the lungs house the spirit, the heart houses the mind, the spleen houses intentions, and the kidneys house willpower. When the eyes lack vitality, it indicates a scattered mind; insufficient energy disrupts the balance of yin and yang, leading to excessive dreaming. Weak kidney energy results in a loss of heart and spirit. In contrast, when the eyes show vitality, it suggests liver energy deficiency. Significant deficiencies in both liver and kidney energy create an unstable foundation, resulting in a life filled with setbacks.

A lower lip higher than the upper lip signals poverty; an upper lip covering the lower suggests loneliness

Note by Liu Heng: A large mouth with thin lips, and a lower lip higher than the upper, indicates an underbite. The upper lip signifies wealth, thus forecasting a life of poverty. The lower lip pertains to marriage and familial relationships. A thin upper lip covering the lower lip suggests a lack of closeness with relatives and unstable romantic relationships, leading to a life of loneliness.

Walking with eyes on the feet hints at malice; a forehead without texture predicts hardship

The "forehead" refers to the heavenly court, which is the forehead area. A narrow forehead with a low hairline and interrupted or half-cut lines indicates a person who harms their relatives and lives in solitude due to greed, leading to a life of poverty.

Such individuals tend to be emotionally detached, resulting in few friends and many unintended offenses, culminating in a life devoid of wealth. A large mouth with thin lips and loosely closed corners indicates a lack of speech restraint, leading to a life without wealth or familial enjoyment.
