The world is unpredictable, filled with both good and evil. In our interactions and pursuits, we encounter three kinds of beneficial friends (those who are honest, understanding, and knowledgeable) and three kinds of harmful friends (those who are deceitful, overly agreeable, and flattering). The greatest virtue of a gentleman is kindness towards others; however, blindly doing good is naïve. We must practice thoughtful kindness. The phrase "carefully examining every mistake and reflecting on every matter is difficult" highlights the treachery of human nature, urging us to be prudent. Teacher Liu Heng advises that when dealing with petty individuals, we should stay true to our principles or maintain distance, aligning with Confucius's lesson of "repaying kindness with kindness and resentment with honesty." We should be loyal and forgiving, upright and just, treating gentlemen with respect and avoiding petty individuals. While wealth can be spent, dignity must be preserved throughout life.

Note by Liu Heng: A person who walks with their head down may be scheming and lacking compassion. Lines on the forehead, whether one, two, three, or diagonal/curved, suggest a self-centered nature that may harm the eldest son and often lead to liver and gallbladder issues.

Straight, gun-like eyebrows signal poverty and difficulty

Note by Liu Heng: Eyebrows resembling a gun indicate a proud and solitary individual who struggles with social interactions and lacks connections. People with large mouths tend to be good communicators, but thin lips suggest a lack of familial warmth and trust, making sustained relationships hard, ultimately leading to poverty.

A narrow face with a coarse body proves unproductive; drooping mouth corners suggest misfortune

Note by Liu Heng: A narrow face implies a small head with delicate features, a small forehead with little ambition, a thin nose without aspirations, and small cheekbones lacking responsibility. A tall body with a small head indicates a life of poverty and low status. The mouth reflects relationships and wealth; upturned corners signify trust whereas downturned corners suggest suspicion and weak family ties, leading to loneliness and financial struggle in old age.

A yellow nose tip suggests joy, while a sour nose signals adversity

A bright yellow tip with a healthy skin tone often signifies wealth and popularity; however, a sour taste points to the wood element, linked to a bluish-green hue. A nose that appears dark or bluish suggests stagnant liver energy, indicating potential issues with the limbs.

Frowning implies lack of sustenance; a closed-mouth appearance foretells a brief life

Thin ears suggest congenital kidney energy deficiency, leading to poor planning and a life of modest income and status. Drooping brows indicate a compassionate person, often providing maternal kindness, gentle-hearted but not authoritative, similar to a monk's demeanor.

Reversed tails affect the father, while long eyebrows signal longevity

Note by Liu Heng: The shape of the brow corresponds to the mother, while the brow tail corresponds to the father. Flared brows may affect the mother adversely, whereas a reversed or absent brow tail (half-brow) suggests a challenging relationship with the father.
