Mysterious Sky City or UFO? Unexplained Phenomenon Captured in the Clouds

People have witnessed many fantastical visions in mirages. In a village in Nigeria, over a hundred residents claimed to have seen a magnificent "Sky City" floating in the air. Similarly, a giant "flying saucer" spanning an area of one kilometer was reported to have appeared above Qinghai Lake in China. These extraordinary phenomena continue to captivate and amaze people.
Mirages
A mirage is a unique natural phenomenon where people might see cities, buildings, forests, and a host of other scenes in the sky, creating an ethereal and fantastical atmosphere. These visions appear so vividly that they seem to belong to the real world. Ancient people believed that mirages offered glimpses of celestial realms, while modern science explains that they are optical illusions created by the refraction of light in certain places. Remarkably, they can even be captured by cameras as real optical occurrences.
Mirages often happen in coastal areas, but they can also occur in deserts. One type of mirage happens over the sea when high humidity in a specific area causes large amounts of water vapor to create a natural giant lens system. This lens system can act like a magnifying glass or microscope, reflecting scenes and objects from other spaces into our own, making them visible to the naked eye. As a result, mirages often appear after rainy days.

Nigeria's "Sky City"
In 2011, in the small border village of Dural in Nigeria, over a hundred residents reported seeing a massive "Sky City" floating in the air. Surrounded by clouds, this "Sky City" suddenly appeared in the sky, seemingly very close to the ground. Witnesses described seeing magnificent and beautiful giant buildings and towers, accompanied by sounds resembling mechanical operations.
Local reports included accounts from a 10-year-old boy named Abraham, who found the spectacle hard to believe. According to the residents' cultural beliefs, they regarded it as a miracle from the divine. Village leader Mallam Shehu Liman confirmed that the sighting was not fabricated. He believed that the "Sky City" was linked to their faith in the true God, Allah, and the giant spirit, stating: "We believe that perhaps God wants us to open our eyes and see how the world of the giant spirit lives."
The "Flying Saucer" Over Qinghai Lake
In 2017, the Xining Evening News reported a mirage phenomenon above Qinghai Lake in China. Around 4:30 PM, witnesses near Erlangjian saw a mysterious object floating above the lake's surface on the opposite shore. It appeared to be a giant "flying saucer," which gradually grew larger, forming a vast undulating hill suspended in the sky.
It was later discovered that this was a mirage phenomenon near the center of Qinghai Lake, covering an area of about one kilometer. Longtime staff members in the Qinghai Lake area noted that many people have observed such wonders near the lake over the years. For example, in 2012, a mirage near Erlangjian depicted a train seemingly racing toward the center of the lake, so clearly visible it seemed as if a train were actually traveling through the sky. This magical scene was breathtaking, and sights like tall buildings, hills, and grasslands have appeared multiple times.
