Why Is a Broken Lifeline Considered a Major Taboo in Palmistry?

Each of our fingerprints features three main lines: the heart line, the head line, and the life line. In both palmistry and fortune-telling, there's significant concern about breaks in the life line, as these denote the risk of serious illness or danger. Both Eastern and Western palmistry view a break in the life line as a major concern.
The life line, known as "地纹" in Chinese palmistry, is one of the three primary lines on the palm. It begins at the midpoint between the base of the index finger and the thumb and curves around the ball of the thumb, forming a parabolic arc toward the wrist. The life line reflects not only a person's longevity, health, and potential for illness or accidents but also their basic character traits. Here are some situations where the life line may be interrupted:
1. As illustrated in the image above, if the life line is broken, it indicates weak connections with elders and poor health luck. In middle age, one might face dangers and illnesses, and if the gaps are significant, health issues may persist. If the life line breaks suddenly but then resumes, it suggests that an unexpected event may occur during that time.

2. If the life line is interrupted but a small parallel line is nearby, it indicates that although disasters may occur, one can transform misfortune into safety; if sick, recovery is likely over time.

3. Presence of a small square at the point of interruption that connects the broken line is also a sign of turning adversity into good fortune.

4. If there is a Mars line extending from the first Mars mound, it can also alleviate the negative implications of a broken life line, as individuals with this Mars line tend to possess strong vitality. Generally, any unexpected events are unlikely to be life-threatening.

5. If the life line is interrupted, it implies a risk of life-threatening accidents. If the interruption is on the left hand but the right hand is intact, the age associated with the interruption indicates a risk. If both hands have interruptions at the same point, it signals a significant life change.
