Reading the Marriage Line to Gauge the Quality of a Marriage

For the marriage line, depth and length matter, but the shape and direction of its end are equally important. They’re believed to hint at the outcome of a relationship: Will it be a lifelong partnership? A long-distance romance with little substance? Or will it end in separation and a fresh start? So it’s essential to look closely at whether the ends of the marriage line are straight.

A deep, long, and straight marriage line (as shown in Image A) is considered ideal and reflects steady, enduring love. On its own, this kind of line suggests having one partner for life and enjoying above-average marital happiness. Many older couples who have faced challenges together, built a stable life, and raised their children often show this sign in their palmistry: a deep, long, straight marriage line.

The end of the marriage line should not curve sharply upward or downward; either tendency is seen as unfavorable for love.

A marriage line that curves upward toward the base of the little finger (as shown in Image B) without connecting to the success line (sun line) suggests standards so high that romantic opportunities are missed, often leading to long-term singlehood—lofty goals, few companions. However, if the marriage line extends and gently rises at the end while connecting with the success line (as shown in Image C), it indicates marrying someone famous or wealthy. Such a fortunate match can feel like saving twenty years of hard work. Note that this hand pattern is different from the upward-curving marriage line mentioned above.

If the end of the marriage line dips downward, it’s associated with disappointment or separation. If it only dips slightly without touching the heart line (as shown in Image D), it suggests that after a long marriage the emotional bond may have faded, or the partner may face health issues. But if the end drops below the heart line or splits before dipping, the implications are considered much more serious.
