Which Areas of the Face Should Not Undergo Cosmetic Surgery?

Everyone wants to look their best, and as modern medical technology advances, more and more people are choosing cosmetic surgery. A successful procedure can enhance your appearance and, to some extent, change the course of your life. However, according to the I Ching, you should be cautious when undergoing cosmetic surgery—especially if it involves the three areas below—because careless changes could disrupt the good fortune you are meant to have.

1. Nose

The I Ching offers three main reasons to be careful about altering the nose during cosmetic surgery: First, the nose sits at the center of the face and is considered the focal point in facial analysis. If that focal point is altered, your living or working environment may experience corresponding fluctuations or changes. Second, in facial analysis the nose is associated with wealth, relating directly to your sources of income and the scale of your earnings. If your financial luck is good and your income is substantial, the I Ching advises against altering your nose; otherwise, a nose that once signified prosperity could become a nose of financial loss. Third, the nose has a strong connection with marriage and family—especially for women, as it represents the husband. Therefore, women who undergo nose surgery often experience marital ups and downs; in more serious cases, this can lead to disputes, separation, or even divorce.

2. Eyes

In facial analysis, it is said that “wealth is found in the nose” while “nobility is found in the eyes.” What does nobility mean? In a narrow sense, it refers to holding political office; more broadly, it includes career success, personal reputation, and influence. So what kind of eyes signify nobility in facial analysis? The I Ching summarizes it in twelve words: “contain spirit, bright and clear, distinct black and white.” Modern beauty standards, however, often favor larger eyes, leading many to pursue eye-enlargement procedures. From the perspective of facial analysis, this can have adverse effects—attracting petty people, constant disputes, a damaged reputation, and career decline. The I Ching also reminds us there are situations where enlarging the eyes is unwise, such as when there are yellow or red spots in the eyes, white covering the pupils, bulging eyes, too much white showing, or a fierce overall look.

3. Mouth

Everything is interconnected, and as the saying goes, “You can eat anything, but you shouldn’t speak carelessly.” Speech naturally involves the mouth, and blindly altering the mouth during cosmetic surgery is akin to speaking recklessly; it can directly bring negative luck, such as attracting disputes. It is also worth noting that, in real life, the majority of those undergoing cosmetic surgery are women. According to the I Ching’s theory of correspondences, the mouth is linked to the urinary and reproductive systems and is directly related to fertility. Therefore, the I Ching advises unmarried, childless women not to make hasty changes to the mouth during surgery and to consult relevant I Ching prediction experts beforehand to avoid adverse outcomes.
