Reading Fortune and Misfortune from the Five Colors of the Face
A person's fortune isn’t fixed. Like hunger or fatigue, it ebbs and flows—even in the best of times. These shifts can be traced. In physiognomy, changes in fortune are often reflected in the face. Among its elements, the five colors are regarded as the most important indicators of fortune.
1. Color Movement: Vitality and radiance in the complexion first show at the tip of the nose. The hue there can indicate wealth, luck, and even disputes. Also consider the color above the eyebrows: if the brows and hair look vibrant, it points to short-term swings in fortune, lasting from a week to a month. However, if the brows and hair look dull, a low spell may last longer.
2. Color Stability: This refers to a settled complexion, where fortune can easily rise or fall. When the overall tone is dark but two or three bright spots appear, it suggests that while fortune may be stagnant, it will not decline. Especially when the face looks somewhat bright yet somewhat dim, it’s best to stay on the defensive rather than press forward, adjusting your state while awaiting better opportunities.
3. Color Accumulation: The buildup of fortune shows between the eyebrows. If this area is bright and clear, it signals a strong chance for advancement and progress. Conversely, if the auspicious hue there fades and darker tones emerge, it marks the beginning of a decline after a peak.
4. Color Dispersion: Dispersion is seen mainly in the eyes, which also connect with the ears and nose. Regardless of the overall complexion, dull eyes indicate misfortune is starting to surface. If the ears and nose take on a dark cast, it is a strong omen of significant setbacks and bad luck.
5. Color Formation: New color first appears in the ears, which connect to the cheekbones. If the ears look vibrant, then even if the face seems dull and the nose is dry, fortune will gradually take shape, with changes appearing within about six months. Additionally, if the cheekbones are radiant, momentum is established, and opportunities and benefactors will soon arrive. Conversely, if the complexion is lively but the ears and nose are indistinct, success will be difficult to achieve.
