Inner Beauty: How Character Flaws Shape Our Perception

Lately, some internet users have been proudly showcasing their post-surgery appearances to me, eager to demonstrate how perfect cosmetic procedures can make them look, hoping to satisfy their vanity. As the famous saying from the Three Kingdoms goes, who decides the rise and fall of fortunes? Is there truly no basis for victory or defeat? The same question applies to physiognomy: who determines beauty and ugliness? Is there no foundation for fate? I have previously written about how to enhance beauty; this article will delve into the reasons behind traits considered unattractive in people's appearances.

1. Narrow Eyes and Slanted Eyes

People with small eyes are often perceived as narrow-minded. Those who are overly scheming and have many thoughts tend to have elongated eye shapes. Many lecherous individuals also fall into this category; those who dwell excessively on lustful matters and harbor ill intentions often have slanted eyes. By the standard of ugliness, eyes deemed unattractive are often associated with an unwholesome nature.

2. Wide and Pointed Facial Bones

For those on whom slimming face injections don't work, only bone reduction can assist. Wide facial bones often suggest a domineering personality, with the belief that they can control everything and that oppressing others is natural. This behavior can be hereditary, passed down through generations. Yet, it is not unusual for unattractive parents to have beautiful children, or for beautiful parents to have less attractive children. Why is it that heredity isn't discussed in these cases? Pointed facial bones are often linked to a harsh disposition, and in extreme cases, are said to bring misfortune to those close to them.

3. High Brow Bones and Sunken Nasal Bridge

In recent years, due to the influence of admiration for Western aesthetics, high brow bones have been deemed beautiful. However, individuals with stubborn personalities and deeply set eye sockets are often seen as deceitful, while those with a sunken nasal bridge are viewed as arrogant and somewhat slow-witted.

4. Indistinct Nose with Bumps

A nose lacking definition appears weak, and an unattractive nose tip doesn't flatter any face. Although such a nose might not be outright ugly, it does little to enhance beauty. An indistinct nose often suggests a lack of ambition and a focus only on immediate concerns, leading to mediocrity. A nose with bumps indicates a tendency to take reckless risks, which often result in significant failures.

5. Awkward Mouth, Thin Lips, and Short Chin

A mouth that speaks hastily will ultimately become distorted, and lips that often harm others will become thin. Those who know only indulgence tend to have short chins. Individuals with short chins are particularly unfortunate, as prosperity is often seen as a measure of fortune. When good fortune arrives, they only know how to indulge; once it fades, they're left with nothing but illness or loneliness.

6. Coarse Skin with Dark Spots

Some believe coarse skin results from hard labor, but in reality, it usually arises from excessive desires. Selfish people tend to have rough skin and many dark spots.

Physiognomy suggests that beauty and ugliness aren't solely determined by one generation. However, the virtues or vices of one's ancestors can still be altered during a lifetime, though the extent of this change varies. While cosmetic surgery may offer the quickest superficial changes, if one's character remains flawed, the next generation might still not be attractive. Will surgical alterations then become a family legacy?
