Predicting Good and Bad Fortune from Facial Features
Overview of the Three Stops (Dividing the Face into Three Parts)
- Upper Stop: From the hairline to the eyebrows; associated with youth, roughly ages 1–30.
- Middle Stop: From the eyebrows to the tip of the nose; associated with midlife, roughly ages 31–50.
- Lower Stop: From the tip of the nose down to the chin; associated with later years, after age 50.
- When all three stops are balanced and the complexion is healthy, it suggests a smoother life path.
Upper Stop
This area includes many specific points such as the Sun and Moon corners, Tianzhong, Sikong, and Tiancang, but for simplicity we’ll focus on the forehead.
A broad, well-shaped forehead is said to indicate intelligence and rich ideas. If the forehead is very high and prominent, it suggests smarts and confidence but also stubbornness, and the partner may be somewhat neurotic. Paired with bright eyes with clear contrast, it points to strong coordination and a touch of intuition, making it easier to gain recognition at work, often leading to management roles or entrepreneurship. If the eyes look gentler, it suggests strong reasoning and planning skills.
Middle Stop
This section includes the eyebrows, eyes, cheekbones, nose, and ears, each with its own traits. It can be read feature by feature or in combination with the rest of the face. The middle stop relates to self-identity, self-esteem, autonomy, power, willpower, and midlife fortune, as well as relationships with peers and colleagues.
For example, people with straight, well-kept eyebrows tend to be straightforward; those with clear black-and-white contrast in the eyes are often sharp; individuals with prominent cheekbones tend to excel in public relations and social settings, while those with freckles may be more sensitive. A high nose suggests strong self-esteem, while a lower bridge suggests resilience. If the nose is crooked, it may be linked to shoulder discomfort and spinal misalignment.
The ears correspond to ages 1–14. People with small ear openings tend to be stubborn and harder to teach. Small ears may point to a tougher childhood with less family support, while larger ear openings suggest adaptability. Ears set higher than the eyebrows indicate quick intelligence; ears set lower suggest a steadier nature. Ideally, ears have a defined helix and a harmonious shape.
Lower Stop
Also called the chin area, this includes the mouth, philtrum, nasolabial folds, jawline, chin, and lower cheekbones. It is said to reflect family dynamics, relationships with subordinates and children, later-life fortune, and financial prospects.
A full lower stop suggests strong family ties; if it is overly full, it may indicate indulgence. A soft, weak voice can point to laziness. A sharply pointed chin suggests looser family bonds and a more changeable nature, which may lead to loneliness in old age. A full, well-defined lower stop is considered ideal.
Philtrum: The Area from the Tip of the Nose to the Mouth
This area is associated with financial stability and is ideally wide, deep, and long. It represents self-control and steadiness; those with a well-defined philtrum and a resonant voice are seen as able to withstand challenges and grow more resilient.
A shallow, short philtrum suggests impatience, immaturity, and competitiveness, with a strong sense of self. If paired with fair skin, it may indicate a self-centered tendency and impulsive speech that easily offends, with a stubborn, willful personality.
A deep, long philtrum often points to a well-disciplined upbringing, a structured life with foresight, and high stability, typically improving in middle age. A flat philtrum suggests a straightforward nature but a tendency to act on impulse.
An upward-curving philtrum often indicates impulsiveness, willfulness, self-importance, and emotional swings, with less stability. Time management may fluctuate with mood. If paired with darker skin, there may be a greater tendency toward loneliness; focus on self-cultivation and patience.
If the philtrum is crooked or has spots or moles, men should watch their urinary system, and women should be mindful of gynecological health.
Mouth: Should be Well-Defined and Full
Slightly upturned corners (a natural smile) suggest vitality and financial potential. The upper and lower lips should be balanced. The upper lip represents the father and the lower lip the mother; further insights can be drawn from lip shape. The upper lip is also seen as the “lid” of the financial reservoir; people with a crooked upper lip or gums that show when speaking may find it hard to accumulate wealth. Thick, slightly protruding lips—often called “fire-breathing lips”—can lead to blunt speech that offends others. Around age 50, the mouth becomes especially important; if the mouth shape is unrefined, the philtrum curves upward, and the nasolabial folds are unclear, it may suggest weaker midlife luck, calling for a more conservative approach and attention to digestive health.
Nasolabial Folds: Represent Status and Dignity
Deep nasolabial folds point to a law-abiding person with a rigid disposition who follows orders with little flexibility. If paired with a rough voice, the temperament may be even more unyielding. However, if the chin area is full and the voice is soft, there’s more room for negotiation and flexibility, indicating a generous, tolerant approach to relationships.
Because nasolabial folds represent execution and follow-through, clear folds are favorable for military and police roles. For businesspeople, less pronounced folds are not necessarily an issue. Scars, spots, or moles on the folds may indicate susceptibility to fatigue and soreness, while horizontal lines suggest unreliability. The width of the folds can reflect one’s career, but they should not appear too early; if they develop before age 33, it may point to a strenuous youth and possible gossip. The folds should not be overly pronounced, as that may relate to gastrointestinal issues; for women, very defined folds may indicate heavy family responsibilities.
Cheekbones Should Be Smooth and Not Overly Prominent
Cheekbones also relate to emotional bonds; if they are too prominent, it suggests someone who places great weight on relationships. Women with very prominent cheekbones may sacrifice for love and family, indulge subordinates, and spoil relatives, which can lead to financial losses in dealings with others.
Jawline Represents Family Business and Stability
A full jawline typically indicates someone who keeps learning and absorbing new knowledge, with broad perspective and a generous temperament, making life smoother and more comfortable. Those with lighter skin tend to value taste, while those with darker skin may take a more easygoing approach to life and diet.
Chin: Represents Endurance and Persistence
A well-defined chin suggests strong endurance and persistence, as well as good stress tolerance. A short chin may indicate less endurance and persistence, with a tendency toward tension and worry. The chin can also reflect prospects related to children, subordinates, and the extension of one’s career.
