What Kind of Woman Can Successfully Handle Men?

Women considered fortunate in marriage—those seen as lucky to have found a caring, supportive husband—should recognize that while choice matters, a woman's influence on her partner can be even more crucial.
A good woman acts as a guide for her husband. But why do men heed a woman's guidance? Gentleness and attention to detail are natural strengths that can win men over. If a woman becomes condescending and tries to control a man, she loses that advantage. Therefore, according to physiognomy, women with softer facial features—such as the shape of the face, nose, and eyebrows—are believed to have good marriages and bring good fortune to their husbands. By contrast, women who are willful, harsh, and domineering often find themselves at odds with men. Setting marriage aside, can such a woman really expect good fortune in a spouse? Will her husband willingly grow in the direction she prefers?
The logic is simple: men win the world through assertiveness and strength, while women win men over through gentleness. When a woman meets force with force, it becomes a head‑on clash. A successful man cannot relax his stance against a competitor, even if that competitor is his wife. Thus, a woman who approaches life and marriage solely according to her own whims and feelings is being unwise. In traditional terms, this is called a loss of virtue, which in men appears as dependence on others.
There are also women who rely on men for their livelihood and are too indifferent to guide their husbands. They treat marriage as a mere accessory to life, leading to a hollow existence. When a woman thoughtfully manages her husband's daily life, he develops a sense of attachment to home and will wholeheartedly strive for the family. His career may wax and wane, but in this respect he does not fail. This is what is meant by "prospering a husband." When the husband is content, the wife is content as well. Such guidance and influence include clothing, social interactions, improvements in diet, and reminders about lifestyle habits. In essence, a woman shapes her husband to her satisfaction—not through commands, but through gentle influence. This reflects a woman's vocation and embodies the traditional ideal of feminine virtue.
