Three Types of Women Who Bring Blessings to Their Husbands—Regardless of Looks: Why Men Should Appreciate Them
The book of physiognomy suggests: “A full jaw and a strong chin bring prosperity to a husband and family.” People often judge a woman’s ability to bring good fortune to her husband by her facial features. However, it's not only about appearance. In reality, women who possess these three traits are recognized as being able to bring good fortune to their husbands, without even needing to look at their faces. Men should cherish these women when they find them!
1. Sticking Together Through Hard Times
The Book of Songs says: “With you hand in hand, we will grow old together.” A strong marriage is built on companionship.
Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, lived a life of adversity, working as a cowherd, begging for food, and even becoming a monk. At one point, his greatest hope was just to have a full meal.
Despite these humble beginnings, he later established a dynasty and became emperor, which marked the epic rise of the Ming Dynasty. His success wasn’t only due to his abilities but also because of a remarkable woman by his side: Empress Ma.
When Zhu Yuanzhang married Empress Ma, he was merely an unknown soldier under Guo Zixing. Guo Zixing recognized his intelligence and promise, offering his adopted daughter, Ma, to Zhu Yuanzhang. Empress Ma stood by Zhu Yuanzhang through poverty and into a life of glory.
During a time when Zhu Yuanzhang was suspected by Guo Zixing and faced starvation during a famine, Empress Ma secretly took pancakes, hid them in her clothing, and delivered them to Zhu Yuanzhang. Despite the pancakes being hot enough to burn her chest, she ensured that Zhu Yuanzhang was fed, even as she went hungry. Later, when they achieved prosperity, Zhu Yuanzhang compared her to “pumpkin porridge” and “wheat rice,” often praising her wisdom to his ministers.
In his early battles against Chen Youliang, Zhu Yuanzhang was once defeated and injured, nearly losing his life. Empress Ma risked her own life to carry him to safety. Zhu Yuanzhang's path through hardships was deeply intertwined with Empress Ma's unwavering companionship, and his eventual ascendancy to emperor was significantly influenced by her presence.
It is often said that true feelings emerge in challenging times. Life isn't just about smooth sailing; companionship during tough times is even more precious. When someone is at their lowest, every direction is upward. Some may distance themselves during your hard times, but you're not left with nothing if you have her unwavering support.
Having someone beside you during difficult times is a significant blessing. Always remember to appreciate and cherish that person!
2. A Kind Heart and Filial Piety
The Sutra of Gratitude states: “Parents are the greatest source of blessings in the three realms.”
Ji Xiaolan documented a story in his notes about a “Divinely Blessed Filial Daughter-in-Law”:
During the Qianlong era, a fire ravaged a street in Beijing, destroying over a hundred houses. Yet, amidst the devastation, one old house remained standing. Its crumbling walls seemed to form barriers, halting the fire's spread. This house belonged to an elderly woman who had been bedridden for years, cared for selflessly by her daughter-in-law without resentment.
This story aligns with the teachings of the Classic of Filial Piety: “The utmost filial piety connects with the divine.” Those who display filial duties invite divine protection.
As a spouse, kindness and righteousness are paramount. By respecting and loving one's parents, a person garners respect and affection from others. There's wisdom in the saying that being filial to parents is the greatest blessing in the world. A wife who honors her parents will receive divine protection and blessings, bringing prosperity not just to herself but to her entire family as well.
3. A Woman's Words Determine Family Happiness
“Watch your words, refrain from criticizing others.”
If you desire wealth, your words should first reflect abundance. If you seek blessings, your words must carry good fortune.
One day, Master Xianya was out preaching and encountered a couple in a heated argument, exchanging insults without any pause.
Master Xianya exclaimed, “Come, everyone! You pay to see bullfights, cockfights, and cricket fights, but here’s a free human fight! Come and see!”
Yet, the couple continued their quarrels.
The husband furiously threatened, “If you provoke me anymore, I’ll kill you!”
The wife taunted, “Go ahead! Do it if you have the courage!”
At this point, Master Xianya called out again: “Everyone, gather around! Someone's about to get killed; it's quite a spectacle!”
A bystander finally shouted, “Monk, why are you making such a fuss? This couple's argument is none of your business!”
Master Xianya calmly replied, “How can it not concern me? If there's a death, they’ll need a monk to perform the rituals! I’ll earn a red envelope for that, won’t I?”
The bystander responded angrily, “You monk, it's shameful to hope for a death just for a red envelope!”
Master Xianya then explained, “I hope no one dies; that gives me something to share.”
This remark stopped the couple's argument and intrigued the onlookers, who gathered to hear him speak.
Master Xianya addressed the couple: “Even thick ice can melt under the sun; good food requires fire to cook. Being together as a couple involves destiny. Marriage isn’t about arguing over who's right; it’s about being each other’s sunshine and firewood, to nurture and warm each other. Couples should respect and love each other, talking kindly to maintain blessings and encounter good fortune everywhere!”
The happiness of a family is closely tied to the virtue of speech. It's often said that speaking to kind people feels like soft silk. Kind words create positive karma and foster good relationships. A wise woman understands the power of words and avoids aggression, ensuring not to make others uncomfortable.
The goodness or evil within a person’s heart influences the warmth of their words. With a compassionate heart, one speaks kindly. Harsh words can create bad relationships, while gentle words foster positive connections. Life's blessings are found in our words.
A wife is the feng shui of a family. A woman blessed with a kind heart and virtuous speech not only brings good fortune to her husband but also blesses the entire family.
As the saying goes: “Marry a virtuous wife; marrying one who lacks virtue can ruin multiple generations.” A man’s wife defines his life. The so-called “prosperous wife” is inseparable from her daily acts of kindness and good deeds.
