In reality, the concept of BaZi doesn't agree with this view, maintaining that one's destiny is set at birth. However, history provides several counterexamples to this claim. Although these instances are rare, they do exist, particularly during chaotic or turbulent times when the expected paths of many individuals are disrupted; those who should be thriving might instead find themselves struggling to survive.
I have a real-life example from six years of observation. A nearby family rented a small shop as a home to facilitate their daughter's education. When they moved in, the girl was twelve years old. She had a healthy complexion, bright eyes, and well-formed ears. Her face was smooth and full, with plump lips and an acceptable nose, suggesting a potentially bright future. Additionally, her marriage prospects appeared promising.
The only concern was that her eyes were somewhat narrow. This wasn't apparent during her early teens, but over the years, her eyes became narrower and lost some of their earlier charm. This change was due to her father's business success over the past three years, which resulted in her developing a critical attitude towards others, feeling superior and looking down on those around her. Her father's behavior clearly influenced her.
Her mother, with limited education, wasn't able to guide her properly. Consequently, the girl's facial structure started to widen, and her eyes became thinner. Had her mother been more knowledgeable, things might have been different. This change did not significantly impact her own financial prospects or career, but it was unfavorable for her future husband and marriage prospects.
It is a mistake to think that an individual's status solely depends on themselves; in truth, the interplay between spouses and their families provides a fuller picture. As a result, when her marital fortune is weak, even if her personal fortune remains stable, her overall social standing diminishes greatly. Adolescence is a critical period for developing influence. Once this girl enters the workforce, her tendencies will likely solidify, leaving little opportunity for change. However, with better guidance earlier on, there could have been room for improvement.
Today's world is vastly different from a decade ago, especially for students who face numerous influences and temptations. It has become increasingly challenging to maintain one’s character and direction. If someone fails to manage this, not only will their social standing fade, but their fortune will also wane.
