Facial Features That Indicate Wealth, Longevity, and Fame
I. Features of a Noble Person
Sparse, glossy black hair; a broad, full forehead; smooth temples; and prominent cheekbones are considered signs of a noble person. A forehead bearing a line shaped like the character for “king” is also believed to indicate unexpected success and advancement. People with “double pupils”—two pupils in one eye—are said to rise from humble origins to high positions; historical figures like Shun and Xiang Yu were reputed to have this trait. If the outer ends of the eyebrows are neat and extend slightly past the eyes, and the overall appearance is attractive, it suggests someone who will earn public renown. A prominent, well-proportioned nose; a wide, firmly closed mouth; even teeth; and full cheeks tapering to the chin also point to nobility.
Although they may be born into poverty and pushed around in their youth, enduring many hardships, such individuals can eventually become leaders or generals. Others may come from the lower classes without higher education yet rise to prominence through good fortune. These facial features are commonly seen in those who achieve high status.
II. Features of a Wealthy Person
A person with sparse, glossy, rounded hair at the crown; slightly protruding upper ears; and plump earlobes generally presents the look of wealth. A broad forehead with a soft reddish glow is also seen as a sign of prosperity. A relatively large nose with a gently protruding tip, along with a pronounced, fleshy jawline, suggests affluence. Even if the jawline is not full, if the ears are not visible from the front, this too is considered a mark of wealth.
Many well-known entrepreneurs did not inherit their parents’ riches but built their fortunes from scratch—truly “self-made.” Their childhoods and youth may have been unremarkable, yet their ability to become wealthy is attributed to both favorable circumstances and the facial traits associated with prosperity.
III. Features of Longevity
No amount of money can buy a person’s lifespan. Wealth can be earned through effort, but longevity is rare; reaching the advanced age of eighty or ninety is said to require heaven’s favor. In general, the following traits are associated with a long life.
In face reading, the eyebrows are called the “officers of longevity.” Straight, level eyebrows—or ones that are slightly crescent-shaped—are thought to indicate living beyond fifty. Having one or two long, lustrous eyebrow hairs; generous, bright spacing among the eyes, nose, and mouth; and a well-balanced face that is neither too thin nor too full conveys upright character and suggests longevity.
IV. Features of Fame
These individuals may be neither wealthy nor high-ranking officials, yet their names resonate throughout society and are widely known—these are the people who achieve great fame.
Their features often stand out: thick yet tidy jet-black eyebrows; bright, clear, captivating eyes; a tall, well-defined nose; and a square mouth that speaks distinctly and loudly. When angered, they can “shake the heavens and move the spirits,” yet when they smile, they seem as guileless as a child, making them approachable—signs of someone destined for renown across the seas.
