Pam’s Astrology: Latest Notes
This piece is a short commentary by astrologer Pam on recent astrological influences. Though brief, it offers some distinctive insights. The translation is presented in reverse chronological order; most of the astrological events have already taken place, but their effects don’t disappear immediately. Recording them here makes it easier to compare them with personal experience and deepen understanding.
Saturn in Libra and Interpersonal Relationships
Amid the confusion stirred up by Mercury retrograde, relationships have moved to center stage. Saturn has fully stepped into its teacher role on Libra themes. As a result, many people will need to review important relationships and partnerships with greater realism going forward. The assignment is simple: relationships that truly matter require sustained effort to maintain, while those that have run their course deserve a gracious goodbye.
Of course, everyone’s test is different, and the answers will vary. If we liken a relationship to an apple core, some will find seeds that can sprout and bear fruit, while others will discover only wriggling worms. What we can all count on is that Saturn’s Libra lessons offer a chance to view our connections more realistically, helping us decide who belongs in the future we’re about to create.
The full moon on September 23rd, occurring just hours after the fall equinox, will be a turning point for many in the realm of relationships. This lunation reactivates the cardinal T-square energy, with the Moon (at 0° Aries) conjoining Jupiter and Neptune (both at 28° Pisces), while the Sun pairs with Saturn at the very start of Libra, and the North Node and Pluto are conjunct at the very start of Capricorn.
Sun Conjunct Retrograde Mercury
The Sun-Mercury retrograde conjunction on September 3 hit much harder than I expected. What’s more, this Mercury retrograde, underway since August 20th, seems stronger than usual. Uncertainty about the road ahead and how to make sense of reality, stirred up by the retrograde, has left many feeling off-balance or stuck.
If, however, it inspires constructive plans, we may look back on this Sun-Mercury conjunction as the moment that set a chain of reversals in motion—or forced a change in course—beginning now or from a moment we had been prepared for.
This Sun conjunct retrograde Mercury also has a particularly strong influence on me, as it lands exactly on my Moon in Virgo. Any natal chart with planets around 11° Virgo will likely feel this conjunction strongly on Friday, September 3rd.
Final Square Between Saturn and Pluto
On August 21st, the final exact square between Saturn and Pluto occurred. For nearly a year, this pairing has relentlessly exposed the weaknesses and flaws in existing structures, even leading to collapse. The impact on the global economy and finance is plain to see, as are the effects on the global climate and the oceans. During this phase, many relationships—and even lives—have come to an end. It may also have become clear that certain emotional and spiritual habits aren’t essential; if we want to move forward, we must let them go.
From a more fated perspective, this is also a time to confront cause and effect, karma, and responsibility, possibly leading to the dissolution or transcendence of limitations. Meanwhile, the soul and the personality are undergoing transformation.
If you have read Michael Newton's "Journey of Souls" or "Destiny of Souls," or other books on similar themes, you have likely encountered the idea that the soul residing in the physical body is only a part of the true self throughout a person's life. Clearly, the embodied portion differs among individuals and across eras, but the proportion of the non-physical part is said to remain constant.
Mr. Newton suggests that the portion of the self residing in the physical body—the soul—is allocated before birth and does not change throughout life. There now seem to be messages indicating that this allotted share can be altered—perhaps in its size, amount, or even its quality.
