Master Longyin: What Items Should Be Avoided in the Study?
A study room is a calm space in the home, primarily used for work and study, and it can significantly affect the family's academic success. The feng shui setup of a study is distinct from that of a bedroom, and certain feng shui principles should be observed. Let's explore items that should not be placed in the study, as advised by Master Longyin.
1. Avoid Hanging Objects
It is advisable not to have hanging objects in the study, particularly above or behind the primary seating area. For instance, a chandelier directly above the chair, cluttered objects on the bookshelf behind, or heavy, swaying glass frames on the back wall can create a feeling of pressure. This suggests that the owner's position may be unstable, making it challenging to gain recognition or preventing others from taking credit for their efforts, and it can lead to encounters with difficult people.
2. Mirrors Should Not Be Placed in the Study
The study is a space for learning and working, and it should remain distinct from the bedroom. Hence, mirrors or other reflective items should not face the occupant. Many have vertical bookshelves in their studies that often incorporate glass. If this bookshelf is placed opposite or behind the desk, the glass could reflect the occupant's image, indicating potential issues in their career.
3. Avoid Odd-Shaped Decorations
Focus and dedication in studying or working require a calm mind. Unusual decorations in the study can impact one’s mood, so it is recommended not to have numerous decorative items. Keeping the space simple and bright is ideal.
4. Sharp or Negative Energy Objects
Some people like to display military models, such as airplanes and tanks, in their studies, or hang swords and similar crafts on the walls. Such items are not suitable for the study, as they may invite disputes or issues with difficult people in one’s professional life, hindering promotions and salary increases.
