Interpretation of Venus

In relationship astrology, many asteroids are used; among the best known are Juno, Hera, Eros, Cupido-A, Amor, Sappho, Lilith (not to be confused with Black Moon Lilith), and Ophelia.

This article focuses on Juno, one of the most widely used asteroids and one that is attracting growing attention.

Juno is the Roman goddess of marriage and childbirth; her Greek counterpart is Hera. In Roman mythology, Juno is among the most important deities and is also linked with finances, giving her a broader sphere of influence than Hera in Greek myth.

Many astrology texts associate Juno with marriage and spouses, a view supported by preliminary work on marriage years and solar returns. Statistics suggest that in the solar return for the year someone marries, a Sun-Juno conjunction (within a 3° orb) is a notable indicator.

According to Martha Lang-Wescott, Juno highlights issues that test commitment, views on loyalty, and attitudes toward marriage. Perhaps for this reason, the Magi Society (an astrology school) treats Juno as a “planet” tied to sexual relationships, suggesting it signifies mistresses, noncommittal relationships, and one-night stands.

Our research has not confirmed this view, and more study is needed. There has also been ongoing debate about whether Juno has a counterpart “on the other side.” The closest aspects involving Juno can reveal key themes in your married life.

  • Sun-Juno aspect: Highlights lessons in humility and harmonious interaction. Ultimately, you seek a partner who clearly embodies either traditionally masculine or feminine qualities.
  • Moon-Juno aspect: Emphasizes emotional sensitivity; you may default to a caretaking or “mothering” role with your partner (for better or worse).
  • Mercury-Juno aspect: Points to an intellectually stimulating bond with a strong need for communication; you may reach out to your partner frequently just to talk.
  • Venus-Juno aspect: Stresses harmony, beauty, and balance; open conflict is less likely, though there can be excessive compromise. Often linked with artistic and aesthetic leanings.
  • Mars-Juno aspect: Often tied to career dynamics and can bring competitiveness between partners.
  • Jupiter-Juno aspect: Suggests a mentor–student dynamic in which one partner learns from the other; traveling together may be especially meaningful.
  • Saturn-Juno aspect: Concerns structure and commitment; there may be an age difference, and fears of abandonment can surface.
  • Uranus-Juno aspect: Favors freedom and nonconformity, sometimes feeling more like a sibling-style bond; there may be a desire for indulgence and unpredictability.
  • Neptune-Juno aspect: Brings idealization and even infatuation, but also the risk of emotional confusion or deception; it can also correlate with strong creativity and artistic talent.
  • Pluto-Juno aspect: Signals passion and intensity; power dynamics can be overwhelming and, if unmanaged, may lead to a breakup.
  • Juno-Ascendant aspect: Highlights how a partner’s presence and appearance—and your own—factor into the relationship.
  • Juno-MC aspect: Can point to workplace romances; if you’re seeking a future partner, keep an eye on your colleagues.
