The Basics of Palmistry

When someone is enjoying good luck, their complexion looks healthy and their hands appear bright and vibrant. Likewise, when a person’s palmistry lines are clear, it intuitively suggests a clear-minded, rational nature; if the lines are very intricate, it points to a more complex way of thinking. This shows that “judging a person by their appearance” aligns with natural patterns, which is the underlying principle of palmistry. In short, to analyze a person’s fate through palmistry, one should at least consider the “three major lines,” the “eight major mounts,” and the “five major lines.”
(1) Three Major Lines
- Cross mark “+”: formed by two short lines intersecting on the palm. Its meaning—auspicious or inauspicious—depends on where it appears.
- Star mark “*”: formed by three or more short lines intersecting on the palm. Its interpretation—favorable or unfavorable—also depends on its location.
- Island mark: found on the “five major lines” of the palm. It is usually unfavorable, with its impact depending on the specific line it appears on.
(2) Eight Major Mounts

- Mount of Venus, at the base of the thumb; associated with health and vitality.
- Mount of Jupiter, at the base of the index finger; associated with positivity and ambition.
- Mount of Saturn, at the base of the middle finger; associated with thoughtfulness and integrity.
- Mount of Apollo, at the base of the ring finger; associated with wealth, talent, and fame.
- Mount of Mercury, at the base of the little finger; associated with creativity and wit.
- Mount of Luna, opposite the Mount of Venus near the wrist; associated with romance and mystery.
- First Mars Mount, between the Mount of Venus and the Mount of Jupiter; associated with courage and initiative.
- Second Mars Mount, between the Mount of Mercury and the Mount of Luna; associated with calmness and self-control.
(3) Five Major Lines

- Life line, also called the “Earth line.” It starts below the index finger, curves around the Mount of Venus, and encircles the thumb, reflecting health and vitality.
- Head line, also called the “Human line.” It begins between the thumb and index finger and extends toward the Mount of Luna, reflecting personality and thought processes.
- Heart line, also called the “Heaven line.” It runs from below the little finger toward the index finger, reflecting emotional quality and attitudes toward love.
- Destiny line, also called the “Career line.” It rises from near the wrist toward the middle finger, reflecting one’s life path and career.
- Marriage line, also called the “Wedding line.” It appears as a short line between the base of the little finger and the heart line, reflecting love, relationships, and the timing of marriage.
By examining the three major lines, the eight major mounts, and the five major lines together, one can assess a person’s fate, seek good fortune while avoiding misfortune, and pave the way for a brighter future.
