What Does "Prominent" Refer To?
The saying "Men have prominent foreheads, women have prominent brows" relates specifically to a person's forehead. It suggests that a high and prominent forehead is a symbol of wealth and nobility. A man with a full forehead is believed to attract continuous prosperity and abundant fortune, paving the way for a promising future. Likewise, a woman with a full forehead is considered very fortunate, often enjoying great wealth and consistent smaller gains, marking her as a blessed individual.
The facial features are categorized into "three sections and five eyes," with the forehead being the upper section, often called the "heavenly court." This area is associated with a person's lifelong prospects, which is why people often evaluate someone's fortune by observing their forehead to gauge their potential for a successful career.
In physiognomy, a high forehead is regarded as an extremely lucky trait. Historical texts frequently describe emperors, particularly founding emperors, as having a high and broad forehead, often termed a "dragon's face."

Zhang Shoujie, in his annotations of the "Records of the Grand Historian," noted, "Laozi was eight feet tall, with long ears and large eyes, and a broad forehead and square mouth." Laozi's appearance has long symbolized good fortune, so a broad forehead is also seen as a sign of blessing, while a narrow forehead might suggest an unfavorable destiny.
