Principles of Facial Harmony in Physiognomy

A sound physiognomy reading requires deep understanding—much like living well. Within the study of physiognomy, learning how facial features harmonize is a discipline that can be approached systematically.

When observing a person's facial features, the analysis isn't based on rigid formulas like the "three stops and five eyes," but on insights into life accumulated over thousands of years.

A man need not have a noble appearance; what matters is noble energy. The emphasis is on spirit, structural strength, and harmonious ears. Therefore, a man with ordinary looks need not worry: as long as he has goals and works diligently, his spirit will naturally shine through. Even with obstacles, he can still achieve modest success. In achievements, spirit shows in the eyebrows and the strength of the bone structure. A strong framework leads to a smoother life, and well-formed ears suggest lasting presence. Thus, when a man has good spirit and strong brows, it points to future success. If he also has a solid build and well-shaped ears, he has the foundation for a prosperous life. With strong bone structure, his standing rises even further.

A woman does not need conventional beauty to be valued; what matters most is the shape of her eyes. Clear, well-shaped eyes that are neither protruding nor sunken indicate good fortune. When paired with a well-proportioned, full face; a soft, rounded bone structure; and a broad lower face, these features suggest a foundation for a happy life. Recently, I observed a woman who, though not traditionally attractive and flat-chested, had small, inward-looking eyes that did not easily reveal her emotions. Her lips were moist, her teeth well aligned, her face long but not protruding, her ears small yet adorned with dangling pearls, and her nose small yet well formed. Her voice was light but clear and strong. This harmony of five small features—small eyes, small face, small mouth, small ears, and small nose—creates an elegant presence. In particular, her slender fingers signify purity. Such a woman may not necessarily marry into wealth, but once she establishes a family, her household will steadily prosper, free of major worries. A woman's fortune does not lie solely in wealth or status, but in living comfortably; with good health and peace of mind, a household thrives. This path has been distilled over thousands of years.

In truth, regardless of gender, excessive self-promotion often borders on immorality, tangled with vanity, power, greed, and lust. This is neither a trend to follow nor a positive phenomenon. The ups and downs of life are often mirrored in such behavior. No matter how attractive a woman may be, if she is caught up in these, she will inevitably sow the seeds of family ruin. Similarly, a capable man entangled in such matters is bound to face a fall.
