Staying Composed in the Face of Life’s Challenges
Life has its ups and downs—especially in the realm of career conflicts and competition—when it can feel as if one’s fate hangs by a thread. In pursuit of a better future, many people choose to take risks, place bets, or go all in.
Such moments bring joy to some and worry to others. At these critical junctures, the choices one makes reveal their grasp of the bigger picture and their ability to use flexible strategies and tactics. Historically, Zhuge Liang was a master of this.
If you learn to read facial features—especially how they relate to fortune and opportunity—then when life’s storms hit, it becomes much easier to decide whether to advance or retreat, to fight to the end or conserve your strength, and to do so with composure.
When someone approaches a major life upheaval, key facial areas—such as the forehead; 印 (yin); 角 (jiao); 准 (zhun); 梁 (liang); 命门 (mingmen); and 颧 (qian)—may change in form or color. When a person is besieged, under attack, in a disadvantaged position, or facing isolation, ominous signs often appear in the cheekbones (颧, qian). A darker tone signals decline, while a reddish hue suggests danger. If these ominous signs reach the 命门 (mingmen), it indicates a desperate situation with no way out.
When opportunity is near and one is on the verge of a significant gain, the 印 (yin) at the forehead becomes especially pronounced. When trust and weighty decisions—as well as temptations and benefits—come into play, the 山根 (shan gen) and 准头 (zhun tou) will show clear signs. Changes across different facial features can offer important clues to life’s rises and falls.
Even if your face shows ominous signs or you find yourself in an unfavorable situation, as long as you remain clear-eyed and calm, maintain a strong presence, and keep your energy contained rather than scattered, a turning point will come. It won’t lead to the worst outcome or total collapse; it may even mark the beginning of a new chapter in your career and life.
