Several traits are considered valuable, such as clarity, uniqueness, antiquity, peculiarity, and elegance. "Clarity" involves being as clear as ice, having a pure heart, a bright spirit, high standards, dignified demeanor, impressive presence, and exceptional eloquence. "Uniqueness" resembles beautiful jade, with a vigorous stride, impressive demeanor, and bold expression. "Antiquity" is like a venerable pine, with rustic charm, natural grace, a complete spirit, and an unwavering attitude toward honor and disgrace. "Peculiarity" stands out like the solid rock of Mount Tai, easily recognizable as different. "Elegance" encompasses delicate features, graceful movements, a charming appearance, and an approachable nature.
These traits truly represent clarity, uniqueness, antiquity, peculiarity, and elegance. However, some individuals may be overly thin and frail, pretentious, arrogant, and self-righteous; others may be affected, ambiguous, deliberately mysterious, and self-important; some may exhibit strange thoughts and restless behavior, pretending to be profound and seeking attention; while others may focus excessively on appearance, pretending to be reserved, with loud voices and a feminine demeanor, appearing flattering yet vulgar, leading to superficiality. These are traits that people generally dislike.
Individuals with well-developed physical traits possess rounded, substantial heads; full abdomens and backs; statures that rise like the Five Mountains; balanced physiques; broad shoulders; wide chests; rounded and protruding abdomens; soft flesh over fine bones; long arms and square feet; broad foreheads and square jaws; red lips and white teeth; round ears; straight noses; distinct black-and-white eyes; long, sparse eyebrows; vibrant spirits; loud speech; proper posture; and calm demeanors in changing situations. They appear majestic and instill a sense of ease. Such individuals are said to possess abundant physical traits, tend to live long, face fewer disasters, and enjoy wealth and honor.
In contrast, those lacking physical traits tend to have pointed, thin heads; narrow, flat foreheads; sloping shoulders; low waists and sunken chests; short elbows; thin palms; sparse fingers; upturned noses; ears that seem to recede; thin lips; flat foreheads; uneven eyebrows, eyes, and cheeks; an unsteady gait; pale complexions; lackluster demeanor; eyes that remain open while sleeping; male voices with female tones; exposed teeth; pointed mouths; baldness on top; deep-set eyes without visible pupils; small heads on large bodies; and disproportionate upper and lower bodies. These individuals are described as having insufficient physical traits, often experiencing illnesses, shorter lives, minimal fortune, and poverty.
