Facial Expressions When You Lie
Lies vary in degree and motivation, and those arising from different causes have distinct effects on physiognomy.
1. Lies told for selfish reasons, such as deceiving others for personal gain, suggest a thievish disposition. This often shows in the eyes, which may look shifty and avoid direct contact, with a sharp yet unsettled gaze.
2. Prank-driven lies, meant to put others in a humorous or embarrassing situation, can appear as uneven tension in the skin around the eyes and, in more pronounced cases, a lopsided appearance.
3. Habitual lying, used to conceal one’s true circumstances and intentions, is often associated with a pointed nose and flared nostrils.
4. Lies told to evade responsibility may be signaled by uneven eyebrows or eyes of different sizes.
5. Lies told to inflate a false reputation or to show off are often accompanied by uneven mouth corners and thin, loose lips.
