Discover What’s Keeping You Stuck in Struggle and Pain
Even if some real-life choices can be examined through astrology, many people still hope astrology can ease their suffering, and some even ask what feng shui methods might eliminate pain. Strictly speaking, astrology can’t provide a direct fix for this, but it can explain the underlying logic.
Suffering may fall within the realm of fate, but it isn’t absolute. In essence, adversity and suffering stem from poor choices or misguided expectations, creating jarring contrasts that leave both mind and body in a troubled state.
Suffering and adversity rarely arrive without warning. To gauge whether someone is truly doing well, beyond looking at wealth, the most important factor is their state of being. From the perspective of facial features, it’s enough to consider both spirit and form.
Form includes the structure of the bones, eyes, eyebrows, ears, and nose. By observing these features, one can infer a person’s habits—whether they’re sharp or generous, measured and gentle or chaotic and rash, stingy or gracious. Habits are formed in many ways, and as they grow and change, they shape how we affect the world around us. Put simply, the length and intensity of an argument reveal how well you control your habits. To speak plainly to those with poor habits: the people and environments around us are the soil that nourishes our social lives. If you use your personal likes and dislikes as the standard to criticize, attack, and tear down that soil, you may feel briefly satisfied, but you’ll also invite misfortune. This is both cause and effect—and a very practical rule.
Spirit is reflected in the intensity of one’s gaze. Wrong choices and mistaken beliefs often arise from radical, extreme thinking that disturbs inner peace and obscures direction. Such extremism is usually triggered by heavy, excessive desire. A familiar example is gambling: whether the bets are large or small, the strong urge to win more or chase losses can drive people into all-or-nothing conflicts, quickly leading to addiction and losses that can’t be undone. At that point, loneliness, confusion, and suffering come to collect their dues.
A calm mind shows a gentle, steady spirit; a mind weighed down by deep desire shows a restless, sometimes fierce spirit. These are shadows of misfortune: even when faint, they foreshadow trouble and pain not far ahead. Instead of asking why suffering is destined, ask why—when faced with desire and extreme thoughts—you chose not to restrain them and instead let them run wild. It’s like drugs: a brief high is inevitably followed by a longer period of suffering.
It’s not only about wrong choices but also misguided expectations. Situations that rational analysis deems impossible can still multiply into imagined possibilities within us—that, too, is a kind of extremism, or rather an immature one. Life requires experience and refinement. As ordinary people, we will inevitably encounter adversity and suffering, but we must learn to recognize it, understand it, and ultimately distance ourselves from it.
